Artists are invited to submit up to TWO visual images; paintings, drawings, photography or multimedia, works which have been inspired by architecture or aspects relating to an architectural practice. The exhibition aims to highlight the interaction between art and architecture and to recognize the value of the artist’s interpretation of the built world.

Oonagh Young has been running the Oonagh Young Gallery since March 2008. Originally trained in Visual Communication in IADT, she also holds an MA in Anglo Irish Literature and Drama from UCD and MA in Visual Arts practice as a curator from IADT.

Conditions of entry are as follows:
– Media: all visual medium welcome including video work
– Please deliver (up to two items of work) to Birr Theatre & Arts Centre on Thursday Jan 31st between 1pm and 5pm
– The curator reserves the right to directly select work.
– Pieces that have been exhibited in Offaly previously will not be selected.
– All work must be professionally presented ready for exhibit. It is not necessary that works on canvas are framed, but the canvas must be approx 1 inch deep and not bowed or warped in any way.
– Works not presented professionally will not be considered.
– All items delivered must be clearly marked with name, contact phone number, title, medium and price and brief artist’s biog
– The exhibition will be selected by a professional curator invited by Offaly County Council and their decision is final.
– It is likely that no more than 35 pieces will be selected for exhibit, and due to the lack of storage facilities prompt collection of unselected works is expected on or before Friday 8th February 1pm – 5pm.
– Artists will be notified if their works have been selected in writing. Selected artists may be asked for digital images of their pieces to be reproduced on the invitation.
– Birr Theatre & Arts Centre will handle any sales and a 15% commission charge will apply to all sales.
– Works will only be insured while they are in the building and up to the date artists have been asked to collect them.
– If you cannot collect or deliver a piece during the dates stated please arrange for someone to assist you.

The show will be officially opened on Wednesday 20th February and run until the end of March 2013.
